Big win for Bideford 2nds but tough times for the Chiefs
Bideford Quins emerged victorious in a terrific North Devon rugby derby in the Devon Merit NE Division, winning 36-19 to move up to fourth in the table, just a point behind Barnstaple 3rds.
Torrington, who battled gamely through, are in eighth and travel to Honiton 2nds this weekend, while Bideford have another local derby at South Molton 2nds.
The long wait for a league win continues for Bideford Chiefs, who went down to a 28-7 loss at St Ives. The Chiefs host Kingsbridge this weekend.
Enjoying a bit more fun in the Counties 1 Tribute Western West Division are Barnstaple Athletic, who are in fourth position behind Paignton, Pirates Amateurs and Plymstock Oaks after recording a 31-22 victory at home to Bude.
The Athletic tries were scored by Ross Swales, Finley Body, Brendan Darley, Dominic Robson and Ryan Jago. Harvey Rostock added the extras with his boot.
In the Regional 1 Tribute SW Division, Barnstaple Chiefs kept up the pressure on leaders Exmouth with a powerful 7-47 triumph at Royal Wootton Bassett.
Tyler Gordon-Oke was in rampant form for the Chiefs, scoring the opening try and also notching six conversions in a tremendous display. The other tries were scored by Brandon Moore, Troy Willis, Callum Morgan (2), Alex Penny and Matthew Gohl.
The Chiefs host fourth-placed Launceston this weekend.
It was a frustrating weekend for South Molton in the Counties 2 Tribute Devon Division, as they went down 5-12 at home to Withycombe to stay rooted to the bottom.
