Barnstaple Town held by ten-man Portishead

Only two games survived Storm Bert in the Jewson Western League and it turned out to be a frustrating weekend for Barnstaple Town at the top of the division.

Barum travelled to the 3G surface at Portishead Town and a tough encounter against the side that started the weekend one place below them in the table. Portishead lost a man to a red card midway through the first half but Barnstaple were unable to break down their stubborn hosts.

The 0-0 draw did mean a 12th clean sheet for Barum goalkeeper Jim Weeks but a day that could have been more for Barnstaple, as title rivals Buckland Athletic, playing the only other game during Bart’s barrage, triumphed 4-0 at Bridgwater United.

Barum remain five points behind leaders Brixham but have two games in hand, one of which is a tough midweek trip to Buckland.
