Barnstaple dismantle Sidmouth to maintain pressure on leaders
Barnstaple RFC ran in seven tries to deliver a ruthless 47-3 pounding of Sidmouth in the Regional 1 Tribute SW Division, a result that leaves Barum just two points behind leaders Exmouth as the league programme approaches the halfway point.
Barum grabbed the lead inside two minutes, Tyler Gordon-Oke dotting down and then converting his own score. Viliame Kotobalavu extended the score and a further score from scrum-half Jordan Petherbridge, both tries converted by Gordon-Oke, made it 21-0 on 25 minutes.
Sidmouth had no answer to their rampaging hosts, centre-pairing Jacob Murphy and Troy Willis running in further tries before the interval. Barnstaple understandably took their foot off the gas in the second period but still had enough attacking intent to add two more tries, scored by Cameron Johnson and Arthur Marks.
Barum have a break from the league this weekend, returning to the pitch for a trip to Royal Wootton Bassett on November 30.
