Petroc badminton team
Cross-country and badminton on the sporting menu
Students from Petroc College have entered into the South-West Regional competitions for cross-country and badminton.
Dan Williams, the solo cross-country runner, gave a good account of himself finishing in a commendable sixth place in the 5k race and has qualified to represent Petroc and the Southwest at National Champs next April. He'll be hoping to repeat his medal from last year.
Petroc entered a team of seven in the badminton this year, a competition that seems to be enjoying a spike in interest at present. The six male players were part of a field of 32 who entered across the region.
They were drawn into eight groups of four with just the top one in each group getting to the quarter finals. Unfortunately, none of the Petroc players managed to progress from the group but they worked really hard and enjoyed the day.
Anisha Williams, the female entrant, did excellently, progressing all the way to the final and finishing with a silver medal, she also goes forward as part of the South-West team for Nationals in Nottingham next year.
A really good day out!
