Quarter-final win for Rocky Grigg
Quarter-final victory for Bideford boxer
Young Bideford boxer Rocky Grigg put in another dominant performance to gain a unanimous win against Eastern Counties Champion Logan Street. Grigg travelled to Essex to compete in the quarter-finals of the England Boxing Junior Development Championships.
Grigg set a high pace walking down the taller boxer, gaining a foothold in the bout by working away with trademark body shots. In the second, it was more of the same with Street spending most of the time on the ropes, struggling to contain the impressive Grigg combinations.
Grigg maintained his pace into the last round, hurting Street with big right-hand counters to secure the win. The 15 year-old Bideford boxer moves to 10 fights undefeated and into the national semi-finals.
Joe Golding had a rematch with Jack Bays from Lympstone in his home show. Golding won the first round, working off a long left jab to frustrate the shorter man. In the second, Golding worked on bringing the right-hand into play, scoring effectively to win another round. The dominance continued in the last until Bays looped a wild right hand over the top, stopping Golding with only twenty seconds remaining in the fight.
