Victory for United Services Bowling Club
Conclusion to the North Devon Men's Triples League in Bowls
The team from United Services A have been crowned champions of the North Devon Men’s Triples League after a 60-48 victory over Ilfracombe on a superb finals’ day played at Barnstaple Bowling Club.
United Services had trounced Bradworthy in the semi-final, while Ilfracombe defeated Braunton, but it was the United boys who prevailed in the showpiece event, marking a triumphant end to another fabulous summer of outdoor lawn bowls.
The league had an impressive 34 teams entered this year and a total of 472 players registered for the competition.
The season concluded with our champion of champions day when the winners of each division played for the Bob Harris trophy. This year it was hosted by the club of the league’s outgoing president Colin Withey, Barnstaple Bowling Club, and was played in glorious sunshine.
Congratulations to champions United Services A and to all players and organisers for a brilliant season.
