Conor McIntosh heading to the Cayman Islands for a world title bout

Bideford boxer Conor McIntosh’s dream has come true as he fights for the WBF Super Featherweight World Title.

McIntosh, the current Welsh Champion, will travel to the Cayman Islands on November 2 to challenge Mandeep Jangra, who is currently unbeaten in 10 fights with six knockouts.

Mcintosh spoke about the fight: “What an opportunity, it’s a dream come true. When I turned pro, my aim was to win a Welsh title. I have achieved that and it doesn’t get any bigger then this now.

“Four years ago, I was an amateur boxer at the Durrant House Hotel and three years ago, I was having my pro debut at the Guildhall in Plymouth and now I’m fighting for a World Title in the Cayman Islands, an amazing journey.

“I know I’m the underdog going into this fight, but I believe in my ability and am confident that I’ll be coming home the champion. I am currently in a tough 10-week training camp and will be turning up in the best shape of my life.

“I would like to thank everyone that has helped and supported my career in Bideford. Although, I am a proud Welshman, I owe so much to the people down here. I have so many fond memories and we have achieved so much together throughout my career, now one last big effort to reach the ultimate goal for any professional fighter, to become a World Champion.”

Congratulations Conor, the whole of North Devon will be behind you all the way.
