Barum man of the match Ricky Marinaro
Bright start to the season for Barnstaple Town
Barnstaple Town have enjoyed a superb start to the new season, washing away summer concerns with progress in the FA Cup and a top-three placing in the Western League.
Barum welcome Larkhall Athletic in the Cup on Saturday, following the midweek league trip to Street, and should be full of belief after an entertaining 3-2 win over Torpoint moved them three points behind leaders Brislington.
After falling behind early, man of the match Ricky Marinaro levelled with a super strike and they grabbed the lead when a Gabby Rogers corner was scrambled over the line by Josh Parry. The visitors then scored a late equaliser but one final twist saw Marinaro head a last-gasp winner.
Bideford endured a rough afternoon at Bristol Manor Farm in the Southern League. After taking the lead through Josh Webber, the Robins were pegged back before the break and then conceded three second-half goals to lose 4-1.
There has been better news in the FA Cup, with Melksham Town the visitors to The Sports Ground on Saturday after Bideford booked their place in the First Qualifying Round with a 2-0 replay win over Wellington, Finn Roberts and Jordan Ewing scoring the goals.
Shaun Copp and Dan Wilson were on target in a 2-1 victory for Torridgeside over Newquay in the FA Vase but Torrington crashed out with a 3-1 loss at Sidmouth Town.
