The winners at Saunton
R&A Women's Senior Amateur & Senior Amateur Championships
Last week, Saunton Golf Club had the pleasure of hosting the R&A Women's Senior Amateur & Senior Amateur Championships.
A total of 168 Men and 72 Women competed from all corners of the world, some from as far as Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.
After the first two Championship rounds on the Tuesday and Wednesday, there was a cut, where the top 50 Men (plus ties) and the top 30 Women (plus ties) advanced to the third round.
After the Thursday round, the top 40 Men (plus ties) and top 20 Women (plus ties) made it through to the final round.
The Men's Champion was Todd White from the USA, with a +7 total over four rounds (68, 78, 76, 69).
The Women's Champion was Nadene Gole from Australia, who was +18 after four rounds (76, 81, 79, 75). Nadene was victorious after a sudden death play-off against last year's Champion, Jackie Foster, which took place over the 1st and 18th holes on the East Course.
Congratulations to Todd and Nadene, who were presented with their trophies by Men's Captain Peter Bond and Ladies Captain Julie Gavin.
Charlotte Prentice and Lorna Bennett (both from the R&A), Jon Sutherland (General Manager) and Murray Long (Courses Manager) were also part of the Official Presentation Party.
The Championship was a great success, and Saunton were delighted to receive lovely feedback from some of the competitors.
A word of thanks to the 140 members, plus volunteers, who gave up their time throughout the week to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
