Morrell v Bird
Bideford boxer heading to Glasgow for his biggest fight
Aaron Bird is nearing the tail-end of a gruelling 10-week training camp for his Celtic Title fight on June 28 against Bobby Morrell in Glasgow.
Bird has sparred 100 rounds in preparation for the fight, including Welsh Champion Ethan George, English Champion Kyle Tullin, Southern Area Champion Pawel Augustnic and local prospects Billy Stanbury and Dylan Burston.
Bird said “I have been training twice a day five days a week to get myself in the best shape of my life. The level of opposition I have sparred throughout are top level, which will put me in great stead on the night. I thank my coaches who have put all this time into me and got me into the best shape possible.
“The closer the fight gets, the more people in the boxing world are talking about what a great fight it is. Two undefeated pros fighting for a title, this gives me a great opportunity to climb up the rankings and gain my first professional title.
“I believe his team have massively underestimated me and they will come unstuck on the night. Travelling to Glasgow, his hometown, really excites me, I have done this many times as an amateur whilst boxing in the European and World Championships and picking up medals. I believe I am going to Scotland to rip up the script as the underdog and bring home the Celtic Title.”
