Barnstaple boxers seeking help on the road

The travelling band at Barnstaple Amateur Boxing Club has set up a crowdfunding appeal for a new minibus to transport their fighters to events all over the country.

Barnstaple ABC regular take their fighters to new venues, most recently a trip to Birmingham for three exciting fights that yielded one excellent victory and two narrow defeats.

The Barnstaple ABC boxers travelled to box on the Birmingham Inner City ABC debut show, a fantastic honour and opportunity for the North Devon team.

Unfortunately, Leland Scott failed to make the weight at the scales, which is just one of those things in the world of boxing.

However, there was a great result for Rez Tommen, who won in a unanimous points decision over Torin Dunn from Skemers ABC. Eric Ridd lost on points to Noah Guage from Seven Hills in another entertaining bout.

Cameron Squire lost on points to Rory Everett from Paddy Johns ABC and three tough bouts, as all the Barnstaple boxers gave everything for their club. Despite his loss, Cam Squires produced some excellent boxing at the end of his top-of-the-bill clash with Everett.

The Club is more than proud of the maximum effort put in by the boxers, all of whom will be entering the A.B.A novice championships next month.

Eric and Buster Davies will be representing the club at Launceston next Saturday on their club show. These experiences on the road are vital to the development of young boxers, as they test themselves against new opponents and different fighting styles. The upcoming schedule will take Barnstaple ABC to events in Launceston, Bristol and Folkestone.
