Bideford boxer Billy Stanbury is the main event in his next fight at Plymouth Guildhall on October 29 against experienced pro Seamus Devlin from Manchester.

The show is the first one locally from new promotional outfit ‘Greenstar Promotions’ and features lots of talent, including former world amateur champion Contantine Ursu and Olympic bronze medalist Mazik Jowic, who are both three fights undefeated in the pro ranks.

Stanbury said: “It is a dream come true to be top of the bill for the first time as a pro. It’s the first time in my career that I step up to six rounds and I believe it will really suit my style, as I have always been known to be durable and have a great engine.

“Training camp has been amazing, we have spent hours on the roads travelling around the country sparring top professionals every week such, as Lewis Everson (Plymouth) and Ethan George (Llanelli), who are both also undefeated prospects.

“This is one of the disadvantages of being a professional boxer in North Devon, the lack of opportunities on the doorstep. I have to travel at least two hours to spar and fight professionals but I wouldn’t have it any different. I am very proud to be from North Devon, I love living here. Running the hills really benefits my fitness and I have a great following, with over 150 supporters travelling to Plymouth to cheer me on.

“I will make all the sacrifices and put in all the time needed to make local people proud and become a professional champion.”

There are still tickets available for Billy’s next fight, priced at £40, phone Richard Grigg on 07949 770616.
