Veterans three man team: Thirty-nine members played in the three man team event, with two scores to count. Alan Sutton, Derek Fogarty and Richard Tuckett won with 75 points from Brian Spieglehalter, Wesley Floyd and Joe Need with 72. Spieglehalter had the only two on the day on the fifth hole. Ernie Lewis, David Fairclough and Alan Nicholls were third with 69.

Great Torrington

Ladies 36-hole club championship: Gross - 1 Liz McKay (13) 81. Net - 1 Sue Reid (20) 67: Stableford - 1 Carole Isaac (26) 64; 2 Sahara Barton (19) 63; 3 Margaret Donaghy (24) 63; 4 Sue Membery (21) 63.

Barbara Lunt had a hole-in-one at the par three fifth hole.

Barbara Payne knock-out trophy: Sahara Barton and Joan Smalldon beat Val Bowen and Jeanette Cudmore in the final.

Junior club championship: Patrick Sanders (79) beat Dan Copp (80) by a to win the championship. Reece Andronik (23) 38pts won the Stableford and Greg Page (54) 28pts won the nine-hole.

4BBB Knockout Trophy: Paul Wheeler and Steve Easterbrook beat Richard Wheatley and Tim Williams in the final.

Veterans Championship: John Hocking is club champion with a gross score of 67+69=136 followed by John McKenzie with 71+75=146. Mackenzie also won the best net score category with 57+61=118. Best Stableford score was Paddy O’Connor with 39+42=81 pts.

A hole-in-one by Frank Foster on the fifth did not produce a podium finish. But Frank has won the knockout championship, which began in March, beating some of the leading golfers in the section.

Ilfracombe

ROTARY: The newly formed Rotary Club of Ilfracombe Compass held their first annual golf day at the Ilfracombe Golf Club, attracting teams from all over North Devon.

It was won by the Rotary Club of Barnstaple Link team of Lew Baglow, Keith Wade and Steve Vine, who took the prize with a team score of 88.

Canada Cup Open 4BBB: First round winners – Dave Lee and Michael Spear 60net. Second round winners – Dominic Whalley and Mark Kiff 60net. Overall – 1, Dominic Whalley and Mark Kiff 126net; 2, Simon Calvert and Simon Kino 126; 3, Don Sutherland and Adam Braund 128.

Best gross –Dominic Whalley and Mark Kiff 135.

Veterans League: Willingcott Valley are champions of North Devon Veterans League A with one round to go, after their second place finish at Libbaton. In Division B everything depends on the final game at Ilfracombe, with Great Torrington holding a two points advantage over Holsworthy, who won the last round on their own course.
