TORRINGTON look nailed on for third place in Devon One, and a possible promotion play-off game, after they defeated Salcombe 34-6.Winger Scott Hooper gave the spectators and early try in the bottom corner and flanker Richard Mann was driven over the Salcombe line from a close scrum.Fly-half Andy Manning potted a conversion and a penalty.Salcombe did their best to spoil the Torrington game and Chris Drew slotted two penalty kicks to trail 15-6 at the change around.Centre Danny Hoyle and Manning added second-half tries with No.8 Lloyd Sands getting a push-over try a couple of minutes from the final whistle.Subject to confirmation from league officials, the third placed team should play-off against their Cornwall One counterparts for promotion.l South Molton's slender hopes of making the play-offs evaporated as they could only draw 14-14 at Wessex.Molton were 14-0 down at the break, but upped their game in the second half substantially.The second half started well for South Molton. From a scrum-five, Wessex were penalised for wheeling and South Molton were awarded a penalty try.South Molton continued to dominate possession and Wessex were forced to defend for long periods.Eventually from a tap penalty the South Molton prop Mark Nott went over for a try, which was converted by Jamie Stoneman to level things up.l ILFRACOMBE had a day to forget at away to Old Technicians, who romped away with a 60-3 win. Will Grant kicked a consolation penalty for the well-beaten visitors.
