THREE Kingsley School teams won at the South West Schools gymnastics competition to represent the region at the national floor and vault finals. The Under 11 girls added the regional floor and vault title to their growing list of successes and the Under 13 mixed and Under 19 girls teams also won the right to represent the South West at the national championships at Stoke-on-Trent in May. The under-11 girls were lying second after the floor behind usual winners Port Regis, but pulled out all the stops to overtake them with some excellent vaults. Sophie Johns and Brooke Timmins once again placed individually and the great efforts of teammates Jasmine Boyd, Christina Brend and Daisy Scott ensured the team's success. Excellent vaults from all the Under 13 mixed team members Scott Heimann, Kate Edwards, Lauren Parsons, Mollie Banfield and Jake Cargill also enabled them to edge past Port Regis and Catcott to victory. The Under 19 girls, who have finished second to Ivybridge on a number of occasions, this time outscored their rivals on each piece. Lauren East and Grace Woolway topped the rankings, with their teammates Steph Green, Millie Taylor-Richards and Anna Charles close behind. The Under 11 Boys and Under 11 Mixed teams executed great routines to finish third and the Under 13 girls team worked hard to finish second. North Devon gymnasts were also highly placed in the individual competitions. Jessica Bailey from Appledore School won the gold in the Under 11 girls with Annie Westaway (St. Helen's Abbotsham) taking fourth place. Megan Spearman (Park School) won the silver medal in the Under 13 girls.
