A GOOD conger eel of 20lb 3 7/8 ounces snaffled the bait of Bideford Angling Club member Stephan Peake while out pleasure fishing at the weekend.Bideford's members also managed some good fish during their February mid week rover, Dick Talbot taking first place with a specimen whiting of 1lb 9 1/4 oz. A bull huss of 10lb 7/8 oz and just over specimen size, gave Stephan Peake second place. Third went to Jazza John with a dogfish of 2lb 2 3/4.Two Bideford club boat records also tumbled, both falling to John Cardew, who weighed in a "stonking" spurdog of 16lb 1 oz plus a new open ground conger eel record of 35lb.
