With Easter fast approaching, the region’s two district councils have reminded residents there will be some changes to the regular schedule with most waste and recycling collections pushed back by a day.

Torridge District Council has said any collections that would be due on Good Friday (April 18) will now be made on Saturday, April 19.

With Monday, April 21 also a bank holiday, all collections due that week will be one day later – so if your collection was due on Wednesday it will instead be Thursday next week and so on.

The normal timetable will resume from the week beginning Monday, April 28.

North Devon Council will be following exactly the same format, with Good Friday collections due on the Saturday and everything the following week being one day later.

The council has also reminded residents that due to the early May bank holiday, collections will again be one day later than usual for the week running from Tuesday, May 6 to Saturday, May 10.

Easter eggs and gifts tend to generate foil, cardboard and plastic waste, so both councils have also reminded people to ensure they recycle as much as possible by placing the discarded packaging in the relevant recycling bags or containers.
