South Molton Bowls
Season taking shape in North Devon Bowls League
In Division 1 of the North Devon Bowls League, South Molton C stay at the top after a battling victory over United Services but last year's top flight champions, South Molton D, are still rooted to the bottom following a heavy defeat to Byeways B.
Bradworthy B, relegated from Division 1 last year, moved to the top of Division 2 with a whitewash over Bideford.
There was a dramatic finish to the Division 5 fixture between United Services B and Barnstaple B. At the start of the last end, the home side seemed to be heading for a 9-1 victory but Barnstaple player Ernie West, with his last bowl, took the shot wood out to score four.
And on another rink skipped by George Gidman, Barnstaple scored four, so the unlikely result was an 8-2 victory for Barnstaple B.
