North Devon residents have been advised to check their waste and recycling collection dates over the Easter bank holiday to avoid any disruption.

As with most bank holidays, the scheduled collection days will be pushed back a day and throughout the following week.

There is no collection on Good Friday, April 3 and pick ups for that day will take place on Saturday, April 4 instead. There are no collections on Easter Monday, April 6 and all collections will be delayed by one day, running from Tuesday, April 7 through to Saturday, April 11.

Most Easter egg packaging can be recycled - cardboard and brown paper should be placed in brown recycling bags, while clean, scrunched foil and most plastics (excluding black plastic) can go into the black and green recycling boxes.

Councillor Julie Hunt, lead member for waste and recycling, said: “We encourage everyone to check their updated collection dates ahead of the bank holiday period. Our website has full details of the temporary changes, along with useful information on how to recycle correctly.”

To ensure collections are not missed, residents should place their bins, bags and recycling containers at the kerbside by 6am on their scheduled day, or the night before.
