Why not go along and join the beach clean and litter pick at Northam Burrows and Westward Ho! this Saturday?
A big beach clean and litter pick is taking place in Northam and at the Burrows this Saturday, March 21 as part of the Great British Spring Clean.
The event from 10am to 12pm will be jointly hosted by Plastic Free Torridge and the Northam Burrows Rangers, who will provide all the equipment volunteers need.
The clean‑up will set off from Westward Ho! slipway, offering a fantastic opportunity for people to work together to help care for the coastline while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

The Great British Spring Clean runs from March 13 to 29 and encourages communities to come together to collect and safely dispose of litter from local streets, parks and beaches.
Torridge District Council (TDC) is proud to be taking part in the Great British Spring Clean 2026 and is hoping as many residents as possible will join the beach clean and litter pick to do their bit, or choose to clean up their own local areas.
Councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin, lead member for culture and community engagement at TDC, said: “This beach and village litter pick is a wonderful chance to get involved in the Great British Spring Clean and to help keep our local area looking its best.
“I hope this event encourages people to join in and maybe even organise their own clean‑ups, big or small, in a favourite spot across Torridge.
“Litter picking is such a simple thing to do, yet it makes a real and immediate difference to the places where we live, work and play. Let’s all take the opportunity to get involved and do our bit together!”
