The steep Clovelly street and the harbour will be festooned with twinkling fairy lights for the annual Christmas lights switch on festivities on Sunday, November 30.
The festive spirit is set to sparkle once again as volunteers from Clovelly RNLI prepare for their much-loved annual Christmas lights switch-on: a magical event that not only lights up the village but also raises vital funds to help save lives at sea.
Tomorrow (Sunday, November 30), the picturesque fishing village of will glow with a breath-taking display of lights, transforming its cobbled streets and historic harbour into a winter wonderland.
Each year, the event draws thousands of visitors who come to soak up the atmosphere and support the local lifeboat crew.
Organised entirely by Clovelly RNLI volunteers, the Christmas Lights event is a highlight of their fundraising calendar. A lifeboat station has served the village since 1870, and the team’s commitment to protecting those in danger on the water remains as strong today as it was over 150 years ago.

As an independent charity funded by donations, the RNLI relies on community events like this to keep its lifesaving service afloat.
Preparations are already under way to adorn Clovelly’s famous steep cobbled street and 14th century harbour with twinkling lights and festive decorations.

The celebrations begin at 2pm with Santa’s Grotto in the donkey stables (£5 per child), followed by a parade at 4pm featuring the Hartland School Choir singing carols on their way down the street.
The school was recently nominated a Lead School for Music by Devon Music Educational Hub, and the event will be an opportunity for the children to celebrate with their local community.
The festivities will continue with more carols on the harbour, with the children accompanied by singers from the Wreckers Coast Choir. Afterwards, there will be a spectacular fireworks display over Bideford Bay.
There’ll be plenty of seasonal treats to enjoy, including mince pies and grog, tea and cake in the boat house, and festive food and drink at the Red Lion pub.
The team from North Devon Hog Roast will also be there, serving up their popular menu and generously donating a portion of profits to support the Clovelly RNLI.
Entry is by a suggested donation of £5 per adult, with children under 16 free. All proceeds go directly to support the lifesaving work of Clovelly RNLI.
The lifeboat station team said: “This cherished community celebration promises festive cheer, stunning lights, and the chance to give back to the crew who keep local waters safe — the perfect way to start the Christmas season.”
