The caps fly as Petroc degree students graduate following years of hard work

Degree students graduating via the partnership between Petroc and the University of Plymouth have been marking their big day with a lavish graduation ceremony

Students, their families and lecturers filled the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple today (Friday, November 7) as Petroc’s University Centre celebrated with its graduating class of 2025.

Graduation day saw 90 students cross the stage to receive their awards, marking the culmination of years of dedication, hard work and perseverance.

They represented a range of courses, from health and social care to engineering, business, environmental studies, creative media and more, showcasing the broad range on offer via the partnership between Petroc and the University of Plymouth.

The ceremony opened with a warm address from Victoria Squire, associate head of school – education & student experience at the University of Plymouth, who congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone.

Delivering the graduation address, Jennifer Grout, operations director at Eaton Aerospace Ltd, reflected on leadership, innovation, and the importance of adaptability in an ever-changing global landscape.

Drawing on her own experiences in the aerospace industry, she encouraged graduates to be bold, curious and confident as they embark on their next chapters.

Representing the student body, Jon Walton, who graduated with a Foundation Degree in sustainable environment management, gave a heartfelt student address. He talked about the friendships formed, challenges overcome and the shared commitment to creating positive change in their chosen fields.
