The Chittlehampton Arty Crafter’s Club with their poppy cascade display in the village Square and St Hieritha’s Church behind.
Remembrance Day at Chittlehampton will once again be commemorated with a colourful display of poppies laid over the old water pump at the centre of the village.
The concept to create a cascade of poppies flowing down the old pump in the village Square was originally conceived last year by members of the village’s Arty Crafter’s club, who joined forces to hand-make more than 800 poppies and diligently sew each one to the mat-netting that drapes over the pump.
Behind the Square is the well-recognised tower of St Hieritha’s Church and a banner of poppies also adorns the gateway to the church.
Arty Crafter’s club organiser Molly Routledge said: “It was a great way of bringing everyone together to create, as a team, something with meaning that we can display each year.”
The Chittlehampton Remembrance Sunday service takes place at St Hieritha’s from 10.45am to 11.45am this Sunday, November 9.
