A familiar face to anyone who walks the lanes of Appledore is back with his latest fundraiser, launching jars of his home-made Christmas pickled onions.
Les ‘Gunner’ Curtis is selling the large jars of onions outside his home in Myrtle Street, Appledore, with all proceeds going to Children’s Hospice South West.
Gunner has previously raised significant sums for the hospice by selling vegetables grown in his back garden, alongside mugs and T-shirts printed with his now-famous ‘Gunner’s Corner’ bench sign.
One previous effort saw £1,300 donated to the hospice, with shirts bought from as far away as Australia and Canada.

This Christmas, jars of his onions are available from his home on Myrtle Street — supporters are simply told to ‘look for the blue wall’. First come, first served!
All proceeds go to CHSW, which provides respite, palliative, end-of-life and bereavement care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the region.
