Supper clubs at the Pig and Olive in Westward Ho! are an initiative to generate business outside the busy tourism season
Pig and Olive, the North Devon pizza restaurant, is launching a six-part series of events at its Westward Ho! premises for the autumn and winter months, to generate business outside the tourism season.
The award-winning pizza company, a finalist in this year’s Food Drink North Devon awards, has announced a six-part Pizza Supper Club —monthly events designed to bring people together through bold flavours and a different kind of pizza night.
Hosted at the restaurant behind the pebble ridge, each Supper Club will centre on a seasonal theme from October’s Smoke & Spice to March’s Fresh & Flourish, with menus designed around shared tables, good conversation, and generous, all-you-can-eat stone-baked pizza.

The first event, Smoke & Spice, takes place on Wednesday 15 October and includes a welcome drink, garlic bread, and four different pizzas served one by one across the evening. Drinks and desserts will be available to order on the night.
Alysa Freeman of Pig and Olive said: “We wanted to create something a little different. The Supper Club is a chance to slow down, enjoy the food, and maybe try something you wouldn’t normally pick. It’s about warmth, connection, and flavour — the kind of evening that feels good in every way.”
The Supper Club format is relaxed and sociable. Seating is first come, first served, and guests are encouraged to share a table and a slice with others. While the events are aimed at adults, there is no age limit. The only requirement is a ticket booked in advance.
Alysa said: “We now run the van seven nights a week across much of North Devon, and our Westward Ho! restaurant is open every day of the year apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Very few businesses in the village stay open all year, and for us it is an important part of supporting our staff with year-round jobs and making sure the local community has a place they can always rely on. At the moment we open from noon to 9pm every day.
“Trading conditions in North Devon are unique and very much shaped by the seasons. The busy summer months, boosted by holidaymakers and day-trippers, bring a real buzz and plenty of opportunity. In contrast, winter can be challenging, with businesses relying more on loyal local customers and community support.
“While we are seeing some organic growth, it takes adaptability and forward planning to manage the highs and lows. Many businesses in our area close through the winter, but we have always believed it is important to stay open year-round to serve our community. Sadly, we are also seeing more independent businesses closing permanently, squeezed by rising costs and a lack of cash reserves to keep them going or invest in the future.
“The launch of our new Pizza Supper Club is an important part of how we are tackling the winter months. We trialled a similar style with a vegan event last January which sold out, and it showed us that there is real appetite for this kind of dining experience. This year we wanted to open it up to a bigger audience, with an all-you-can-eat format and a series of seasonal themes. With limited tickets for each event, it brings people together and creates a real buzz. For us it is about keeping the energy going locally when visitor numbers are lower and giving our community something special to look forward to.”
Tickets for Smoke & Spice are priced at £24.99 and include all food served during the event. Pig and Olive’s Pizza Points loyalty scheme applies to ticket purchases, giving guests money off their next order. Tickets and full details are available at www.pigandolive.co.uk/shop
Pig and Olive was founded 10 years ago, starting out with a mobile trailer doing events and pop ups. The move into Westward Ho! began with a residency in someone else’s kitchen, which led to the purchase of the company’s own property about five years ago.
