Petroc says it has hit a huge milestone in its campaign to give more North Devon students a vital taste of the world of work.
More than 800 local employers have pledged to provide support for young people, helping to so far reach 43% of the target in the college’s 2,000 Futures campaign, which aims to create 2,000 work experience encounters by Christmas.
From inspiring industry talks and workplace tours to hands-on placements, the college said hundreds of local employers are stepping up to open their doors.

It says the campaign is about much more than numbers, it’s about ensuring young people across North Devon gain the insight, skills, and confidence they need to succeed in the local and global workplace.
By linking students with employers, Petroc says it is building stronger connections between education and industry, preparing the next generation while also strengthening the region’s future workforce.
A total of 860 employers have pledged support towards helping to meet the 2,000 placements target, including those from healthcare and education to engineering, animal care, digital and the creative arts.

Many are offering site visits, guest lectures and hands-on experiences that show students the breadth of opportunity available in the region.
Petroc would like to thank the many businesses, organisations and schools that have pledged so far. The college said without their generosity and commitment, this milestone would not be possible.
