Teen left with life-threatening injuries after Braunton electric motorbike crash

A teenager is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision on an electric motorcycle in Braunton on Saturday night

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after the electric motorcycle he was riding crashed in the centre of Braunton on Saturday night.

The teen was riding a black Sur-Ron electric bike when it crashed on Chaloners Road near the square just before 8.50pm on Saturday (August 23). No other vehicle was involved.

It is believed there was a pillion passenger on the bike who fled the scene before police arrived.

Police said a result of the collision, the 17-year-old male rider, who is from the Braunton area, was left with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains.

The main road through the centre of Braunton was closed for several hours both ways while and examination of the scene was carried out by officers.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision or the events leading up to it, or who might have dashcam, to come forward. Please get in touch via the Devon and Cornwall Police website or by calling 101, quoting log number 941 23/08/2025.
