Braunton Academy achieves across the board on GCSE results day

Braunton Academy saw even further improvement on GCSE results day yesterday (Thursday) and has announced an exceptional’ set of results that include amazing individual achievements as well as beating various national averages.

The school said there were an impressive 73 grade 9s, the highest possible GCSE grade and more than 350 grades at grade 7 and above. It also saw a significant number of subjects achieve higher than the national averages for both highest grades (7-9) and at standard pass level, including both English and maths.

Principal Fay Bowler said: “We are absolutely thrilled with this year’s GCSE results. Our students have shown incredible resilience, determination, and ambition.

“These outcomes are a testament to their hard work and the unwavering support of our dedicated staff. Every member of our school community has played a part in this success, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

The academy is recognised as an inclusive school and this year’s results highlighted progress made by disadvantaged and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students, whose achievements have increased across the board.

Ms Bowler added: “We are especially proud of the fantastic results achieved by our SEND students.

“Their success reflects the inclusive ethos of our school and the tailored support we provide to help every learner thrive.”

There were some excellent individual achievements, including Izzy Roome who secured an outstanding nine grade 9s and one grade 8, while principal student Charlie Jones achieved eight grade 9s, two Grade 8s and an A grade in A Level additional maths. Emma Pittman and Flo White also impressed with seven grade 9s each.

A special mention from the school went to Issi Hebbard, its very own England football international Lioness and Under 16 captain, who showed ‘phenomenal commitment’ to her studies while balancing a demanding training schedule and competing in international tournaments with the England squad.
