The site of the new homes
Wain Homes South West has completed the acquisition of a 9.6-acre site in Yelland, where construction is now underway for 80 energy-efficient new homes.
The development, named Otter’s Reach, is situated on West Yelland and recognises the presence of otters in the nearby River Torridge.
The new homes will include a mix of one, two, three, and four-bedroom properties.
The first homes are expected to be available for sale in Spring 2025.
In addition to the housing development, Wain Homes has committed to contributing £650,000 towards local community healthcare, education, infrastructure, open spaces, and conservation areas.
Steve Goldsworthy, managing director of Wain Homes South West, highlighted the development’s suitability for families, citing the proximity to Barnstaple and the easy access to the North Devon coastline and countryside.
He added: “Yelland perfectly fits our criteria for a sustainable development of family homes being close to all the amenities of a larger town, such as Barnstaple, but with equally easy access to the countryside and beaches of the North Devon coastline and North Devon Natural Landscape.”
Wain Homes currently has ten active or upcoming developments across Devon and Cornwall.
The company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, was recently awarded Five-Star status by the Home Builders Federation for customer satisfaction.
