You’ll soon find Santa on Barnstaple High Street but this out-of-season Grotto is not for the littl’uns.
Written and performed by Terry Victor for Notional Theatre, this Santa is a troubled mix of stand-up and meltdown. There’ll be drag, rap and outrageous name-dropping.
Grotto won the ‘Show Chugger’ award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023. Now Grotto is part of the 4-day Barnstaple Fringe TheatreFest. This is a show for the naughty list.
Terry Victor last appeared in Barnstaple in Well Thumbed in 2017. He is delighted to be coming back.
Terry is a professional actor and writer (and BBC ‘expert’ and lexicographer). His credits include the West End, Oscar- nominated and Bafta-winning movies, and many murders on the Orient Express (as well as a couple of impressive slang dictionaries).
He is a jolly fat man with a white beard – so it came as no real surprise when, a couple of years ago, he found himself playing Santa in a Christmas grotto. This grown-up Grotto is the result.
The tag line for Grotto is ‘unseasonable, unreasonable & unsuitable for brats’.
