New opportunities for customers to get involved at North Devon Homes

Volunteering can be very rewarding, especially when what you are doing makes a positive impact on other people’s lives. We are very lucky to have an incredible team of customer volunteers here at North Devon Homes who do just that.

We are always looking for more of our customers to get involved with us and finding new ways for them to talk with us that fit in with modern lifestyles. We recognise that not everyone can make it to our in-person meetings. That's why we're excited to announce these new options for customers to get involved and share their views.

These include:

• Online meetings (flexibility on times).
• Join our new email group and answer some quick questions on areas of the business (incentives will be provided for taking part regularly!)
• Creating new customer Involvement meetings in rural areas (flexibility on times).
• Request a pop-up event in your area or join us at a scheduled pop-up event.

As a community landlord and a registered charity, we put creating communities where people want to live at the forefront of all that we do.

We recognise that we cannot do this without our customers. As the eyes and ears in our neighbourhoods, our customers are invaluable in helping us to achieve this.

That’s why we actively encourage our customers to come and work with us, as a team, and bring the vital customer perspective to all aspects of our decision making.

This builds on our ethos of bringing the front room to the board room. We are delighted to have more options for customers to get involved.

Pam started volunteering with us recently. She said: “I recently joined the Involved Customer Fresh Ideas group here at NDH. Meeting likeminded folk, who are also customers of NDH, has been a great experience and a learning curve.

“Seeing how complex NDH is, from the care of all their customers, the customer support, health, and safety, is just a few of the elements involved in maintaining good outcomes for customers.

“It’s enlightening to see how the behind-the-scenes teams work tirelessly to help us, the customers, to enjoy our homes.”

Getting involved brings a number of benefits, including:

• The opportunity to learn new skills – such as experience in chairing meetings, computer skills and understanding how NDH operates behind the scenes.
• The opportunity to help shape our business – you’ll work closely with front line staff and managers to help make recommendations on how to improve our work.
• Social skills – its an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
• Boost your wellbeing – volunteering can have a positive impact on your mental and emotional health.
• Build confidence – by communicating with other customers and staff at meetings and events and being part of a team.
• Can help with proving a route back to into work (we can support you with this).
• Training opportunities – including in house training, Health and Safety guidance, and external training/support by TPAs (Tenant Advisory Service).
• All travelling expenses covered.
