On April 14 the Barnstaple Male Voice Choir will host a special concert at St Peter & Mary Magdalene Church in Barnstaple, when it will be joined by Voix Dômes a male voice choir from Châtel-Guyon in France.
In 2018 the choir, along with some colleagues from Budleigh Salterton MVC were privileged to be asked to sing as part of the Rencontres Internationales de Voix d’Hommes Festival.
Tony Blake, the Choir’s Chairman said: “Our last trip to France was an enormously successful weekend - being able to participate in a series of concerts, and enjoy the local scenery of the Auvergne and the town of Châtel-Guyon, not to mention their wonderful hospitality.
“Plans for a reciprocal trip by the French choir were made for 2020, but unfortunately the pandemic aborted the visit then, but now we are looking forward to hosting them on Sunday April 14.
“Our overseas visits play an important part in the social side of being part of the choir, and it is always an honour when we can show our gratitude by hosting a return visit.”
The Voix Dômes Choir are in Devon for a few days and as part of their visit they will sing in a concert at Sidmouth with the Budleigh Male Voice Choir on Saturday, April 13, before travelling to Barnstaple.
The Choir’s website – www.barnstaplemalevoicechoir.co.uk – has more details of how to get tickets for the concert, the future programme and how to join the choir.
