This Saturday (March 23) in Ilfracombe is the second North Devon session led by ArtMakers UK, which will give you an insight in to all the opportunities of funding.
The two-hour workshop, led by ArtMakers directors Phil Parker and Hilary Beecroft, give an up-to-date perspective of the changing funding landscape with information on how to access it.
There will also be a representative from the Arts Council in attendance for some one-to-one sessions, and additional information on other types of funding available.
Phil Parker said: “We hold these sessions each year as the funding cycles begin as we know that few artists take up these opportunities.
“Applying for money can be quite daunting and taking the pain out of the process enables local artists and makers to make the most of the funding available.
“Applications can be time-consuming and off-putting but time spent on one could make all the difference in terms of what’s possible in the year ahead. We would encourage as many creatives as possible in our area to come along and find out what is possible this year.”
Louise B, an artist from Ilfracombe, went along to a session last year and recently got back in touch with the ArtMakers. After two attempts at accessing funding she has now been successful in accessing a sizeable grant.
She said: “I have been awarded on my second attempt a grant for 'Developing my Creative Practice' from Arts Council England.
“I just want to say an absolutely massive thank you to you guys from ArtMakers. I would never have gone for it if I hadn't been to your talk over a year ago. Also your emphasis and enthusiasm on not giving up if you get rejected the first time really helped me try again.”
Anyone interested in booking can do so via the ArtMakers website at https://www.artmakers.uk/event/funding-for-artists-and-makers-3/.
The Saturday session is at Ilfracombe Library from 2 to 4pm.
