Against spiralling theatre costs local dance school, Dancing Feet Academy of Dance, based in Braunton, is taking to the Queen’s Theatre stage once again for its biannual show.

Première, billed as the school’s most ambitious show yet, will open for four fabulous performances on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27.

Première, an extravaganza of dance, will see over 250 children and adult dancers taking to the stage this July. It marks Dancing Feet’s 29th year and feels more than just a show, it’s a celebration of the school’s much-loved place in the local community.

The academy’s youngest dancers have their own mini stand-alone show called Première Rising Stars exclusively for the Pre Primary, Primary and Grade 1 students - this takes place on Friday, July 26, at 2pm. For many of these children it will be the first time they have performed on stage. Expect budding ballet dancers, tiny tappers and cheeky commercial street dancers.

Taking inspiration from stage and screen, Première’s main show promises to deliver show-stopping, toe-tapping numbers from the start to finish.

With a fantastic ‘Moulin Rouge’ inspired opening; exhilarating jazz numbers, energetic tap routines, elegant and technical ballet pieces, sassy commercial numbers, and songs from some of the best-loved movie musicals, there really is going to be something for everyone!

Nadine Morrish, Principal of Dancing Feet Academy said: “We are thrilled to be celebrating our 29th year as one of the leading dance schools in the South West, and what better way than with our most exciting show yet!

“Our Dancing Feet Academy family has grown so much in just the last year and we are delighted to be able to give our students (young and old) the opportunity to dance on a stage like the Queen’s. There really is nothing like it - the curtain opening, the buzz of performing, and, of course the applause!’

Nadine continued: “Staging Première at the Queen’s Theatre has its challenges as theatre hire costs have tripled in the last twelve months. We will be undertaking some serious fundraising in the coming months and hope the community will support us as we head towards the show.

“We are also looking for financial support from local businesses, if anyone would like to get involved, sponsor or donate, do get in touch. You can also donate directly to our GoFundMe page. All contributions gratefully received! As they say, the show must go on!”

Tickets are on sale from May via The Queen’s Theatre box office on 01271 316523. For more Information please visit the Queen Theatre’s website.
