£9,000 raised at West Quay Fundraisers of Appledore presentation evening

The West Quay Fundraisers of Appledore recently hosted a presentation evening at the Beaver Inn where over £9,000 was donated to local charities.

Cheques of varying amounts from £100 to £3,000 were passed to representatives from 12 various organisations including four new to the WQFR : Appledore Music Festival, Hedwig Hotel (for injured, orphaned hedgehogs) The Fern Centre at NDDH and Harbour in the Community.

The main beneficiaries were the area’s two wonderful hospices - North Devon and Children's Hospice.

Donations were also made to Headway - the brain injuries charity, North Devon Animal Ambulance, FUEL Youth Club and Brownies both based in Appledore, The RNLI Appledore Lifeboat Crew and not forgetting The Memory Cafe.

The presentations were followed by light refreshments and were royally entertained by the Applecorers Shanty Singers, who themselves contributed over £750.

Monies were raised over the past 12 months through regular community film night and other fundraising events such as a successful race night, and running bars at various community events such as the King's Coronation alongside hosting Big Breakfasts and table top sales.

The next table top sale is on Saturday, March 9, at St Mary's Hall in Appledore which is also the venue for a Big Breakfast on Saturday, March 30.
