Local environmental charity Plastic Free North Devon is urging people to put Saturday, January 27 in their diary to do their bit to help clean up their local area as part of its annual Day of Action.

Each year the charity galvanises the community, whether that be community groups, individuals, schools or businesses to head outside to beaches, parks, streets and public spaces for a Cleanse and Clean.

The Cleanse and Clean campaign aims to encourage everyone to get in the great outdoors and pick up rubbish as you go, connecting and giving back to nature at the same time.

More details of events will be released in January, but people are invited to attend an organised clean or to set up or help with a public clean up in their local area – PFND can provide guidance and equipment.

Individuals could carry out their own individual action if they wish - a stroll around their village or town, a bracing dip in the ocean or a cycle around the park on the Day of Action, picking up rubbish as they go.

Businesses are invited to organise a clean at their workplace, while schools might wish to arrange a clean up at their school on the week running up to the day of action.

Any action no matter how big or small can be entered into the PFND prize draw to win a dryrobe® Advance of your choice. Competition details will be released in January.

To enter the competition, to find out more about the Day of Action or how to set up your own clean up events, email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org for more details.

The charity would also love to hear from any existing litter picking groups.

You can see more information about the campaign on the charity’s website www.plasticfreenorthdevon.org or social media pages. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
