Bideford College celebrates the hard work of Sixth Form students

Proud students and staff at Bideford College are celebrating after receiving a great set of A-level and BTEC grades.

Sixth form students at Bideford College, a member of Athena Learning Trust, have achieved another set of superb results which reflect the hard work and commitment shown throughout their two years of studying.

Many students are now excitedly looking forward to progressing onto their chosen universities, apprenticeships and employment at leading organisations.

Overall, the college achieved a pass rate of 99%, with many students receiving top grades.

In addition, subjects that saw particular success included English and Maths, where a third of grades awarded were either A* or A.

All students across the college performed well, with some individual standout achievements including:

  • Alice Allebone-Parish, who last year was one of the college’s senior students achieved an A* in Psychology, an A in Biology and a B in Chemistry. Alice has gained a place to read Medicine at Southampton.
  • Marisa Bartley, achieved an A* in Biology and A grades in Psychology and English literature. Maris is continuing her studies with the Open University.
  • Daniel Stell has been awarded an A in Economics, B in Psychology and a C in History. He has a place to read Law and Business at Exeter University.
  • Alex Wright gained an A in Maths and distinction* in Applied Science and Sport. He is starting an apprenticeship with the National Grid.
  • Ellie Medland received an A* in English Language, an A in Geography and a C in History. Ellie is going onto study Geography at Exeter University.
  • Bo Bennet is leaving us to study for a BA in Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham after gaining B grades in Art and Product Design and a C grade in English Literature.
  • Oliver Mitchell and Abi Hutchings, both ambassadors for the Children's Hospice South West who balanced their studies whilst supporting the charity on a number of fundraising events have both secured places at Falmouth University to read Professional Music Performance.

Dr Claire Ankers, Principal at Bideford College said: “We are delighted to see the students of Bideford College receiving their results today, all of which are hugely deserved after working so hard over the last two years. We are very proud of the next steps all our students will be taking, including securing places at a range of colleges and universities across the UK, on coveted apprenticeships, training in the Armed forces and in jobs of their choice.

“I would like to thank all our students, their families, our staff and the Bideford community for their ongoing support and we look forward to seeing our students go on to achieve amazing things.”
