10-year-old girl hurt in Woolacombe incident

Police investigating a road traffic collision on the B3343 at Woolacombe on Thursday, June 29, are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers attended a single-vehicle collision involving a black Mini Cooper on Beach Road, Woolacombe, at around 6pm.

As a result of the collision, a 10-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not considered to be life changing or life threatening.

An adult female passenger in the car was not injured.

The road was closed while officers investigated the scene. It was handed over to highways at around 9.10pm.

A 53-year-old man from the Ilfracombe area was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while above the legal alcohol limit. He remains in police custody.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have video footage which may have captured the vehicle prior to the collision.
