The Guildhall Barnstaple will see a number of Masterclass sessions over the coming months, starting with a session on make-up.

It will be run by local professional make-up artist Laura Knight, who specialises in ‘natural make-up’ and is keen to pass on her knowledge and enhance the feeling of comfort and confidence in appearance.

Apart from being a skilled make-up artist Laura has a background of working in mental health and trauma support, and has a passion for skincare, general health and wellbeing, which she brings to her sessions.

The session at The Guildhall is totally free. Laura will be working with one of her models and talking about the many different aspects of make-up and appearance, much of which is rarely discussed. She said: "I am really passionate about putting people at ease and helping people to feel confident within themselves, often by creating a more natural look, with minimal product.

"Many people get their make-up advice through word of mouth, or these days social media, and there are very few tips on how to enhance natural beauty in the most effective way. I want everyone to feel confident in their own skin and have pride in their appearance. It’s not about how others perceive you should look, but about individual choice and harmony with your body."

In her professional role Laura offers one to one and group classes. She also does full makeovers including bridal work, and has been on recent photoshoots. She is keen to work alongside other local professionals, which is where the Masterclass fits in.

The Guildhall is likely to host other sessions soon which may include photography and art therapy sessions.

The session at The Guildhall is due to take place on Tuesday, July 18, between 10am and 2pm.
