Petroc has announced a major development that will 'greatly enhance' the learning experience for students across its Creative Industries and Construction provisions.
As of September 2023, all Creative Industries programs, including music, performing arts, creative media and art, as well as the construction provision, will be relocated to the Barnstaple Main Campus on Sticklepath Hill.
This 'exciting move' represents a significant milestone in Petroc’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering a dynamic learning environment for its students. By consolidating these courses at one central location, learners will now benefit from a range of advantages that are set to greatly enrich their educational experience.
Students will have the opportunity to learn from the same experienced and dedicated faculty members, who will continue to deliver exceptional courses in their respective fields. This continuity ensures learners can build on their progress and further develop their skills with the guidance of these accomplished professionals.
Moreover, the remodelled learning spaces have been specifically designed to accommodate the unique requirements of the Creative Industries and Construction provisions. Progressive facilities, equipped with cutting-edge technology and resources, will foster an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
Students will have access to specialised spaces, studios, music rehearsal booths, and workshops that are tailored to their specific areas of study, facilitating hands-on learning and practical experiences.
The consolidation of these provisions at the main campus also offers students the convenience of accessing a wide range of essential services and facilities in one centralised location. From food outlets and study areas to digital resources and student support, Petroc’s Barnstaple Sticklepath Hill Campus has been designed to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Additionally, students will have easy access to enrichment activities and academies, fostering a holistic and immersive learning experience.
"We are delighted to announce the consolidation of our Creative Industries and Construction provisions at Barnstaple's Sticklepath Hill Campus," said Sean Mackney, Principal and CEO at Petroc College.
"This move represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing high-quality education and a rich learning experience for our students. By bringing together these courses and offering purpose-made facilities, we aim to nurture talent, foster creativity, and provide the resources necessary for our learners to thrive. There are so many additional opportunities to having all our learners on one campus in Barnstaple, it opens up Creative Industries enrichment to all learners, and there are even plans for music students to open their doors for lunch time performances to all our students!"
Petroc remains dedicated to offering comprehensive support and ensuring a smooth transition for all students affected by this relocation. The college will work closely with staff, students, and relevant stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption during the transition process.
With this exciting development, Petroc College looks forward to welcoming students to its enhanced Barnstaple Main Campus. By centralising the Creative Industries and Construction provisions, the college is 'poised to offer a truly enriching and transformative educational experience that prepares learners for successful careers in their chosen fields'.
