People across North Devon and Torridge have been marking the coronation of the King and Queen with a host of events right across the region.
Saturday’s lavish Coronation Ceremony at Westminster Abbey saw King Charles III become the first British monarch to be crowned in 70 years, alongside Queen Camilla.
Then it was time to start the party and communities, councils, pubs and neighbours have been busy holding their own coronation parties across the two districts.
Just a few highlights so far include a Party in the Park on Saturday afternoon at Bicclescombe Park in Ilfracombe, organised by Bicclescombe Mills Tearooms.

On Sunday people gathered in their droves for what has become an Ilfracombe tradition – a mass photo on Capstone hill, standing on message C III R 2023, cut into the grass by North Devon Council’s parks team.

In Fremington, there was a Crown Trail around the village, with children collecting a jewel for their crowns before heading back to the Village Green to enjoy a Coronation Picnic and have their picture taken on the village’s very own throne.

More to come on Monday
Events continue around the region tomorrow (Monday) including a Coronation Big Lunch at Highfield Regis in Northam from 2pm, with all welcome.
Yarnscombe Village Hall is also hosting a public Big Lunch from 1pm on Monday.
A Coronation event in Landkey on Monday will be celebrating a royal link to the mazzard cherry which history reports was enjoyed by King Charles II in a pie on a visit to North Devon.
The free family event runs from 2pm to 5pm at Landkey’s Millennium Green in the Mazzard Orchard. As well as stalls, activities and refreshments, special mazzard pies will be available to try, as the last King Charles (then the Prince of Wales) did on a visit to Barnstaple in 1645.
