A new, permanent chief executive has joined Age Concern Barnstaple and North Devon.
Amanda Howard brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge in supporting older and vulnerable people.
She has previously worked as CEO for Cotswolds Friends, previous to this, Amanda has worked for the NSPCC and the BBC.
Amanda said she was thrilled to take on the role. She said: “With the current economic climate, the services and support we offer are more essential than ever.
“Our focus will be on increasing our services across Barnstaple and the whole of North Devon. These services include: Care Line, Community Transport, Shopping Service, Befriending, Carer Support, Hospital Support and Community Activities.
“However, to deliver these services we urgently need more volunteers across all areas. The charity currently supports 200 older and vulnerable people each week with 50 volunteers.
“With your help and support we can reduce loneliness and isolation, improve health and wellbeing and support independent living.”
If you are interested in any of the Age Concern services or would like to become a volunteer, please call on 01271 324488, email info@ageconcernnorthdevon.org.uk or drop into the office at 116-118 Boutport Street, Barnstaple (EX31 1TD). The office is open 9.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
