A steady stream of people took the opportunity to visit Braunton's new Tesco Superstore at its official opening today (Monday)Half an hour after the crew of the Ilfracombe RNLI Lifeboat cut the ribbon to declare the Velator store officially in business, the car park was already nearly full.It means the creation of 168 jobs and store manager Norman Green says the store has a wide range on its shelves and is sure it will bring more people into the village."Our belief is it will pull people into Braunton and I think the local businesses will prosper from that," he said."It's always a privilege to open a new store and this one has been fantastic, the team of staff we have taken on are really warm and friendly."I would just say to the people of Braunton: Just come in and have a look around and I think you will find out for yourselves."Tesco donated £1,000 to the Ilfracombe RNLI crew and supporters who turned out to mark the opening.
