Run Barnstaple proves a favourite every year
Run Barnstaple is happening on Sunday, September 28 and is now in its third year of being organised by the charity Children’s Hospice South West.
Keen runners have the choice of entering the marathon, half marathon or 10k and there is also a children’s Final Mile race being organised through schools.
Wollens have confirmed they will be the gold partner for the charity’s popular running event for the next three years.
Kate Romo, events fundraiser for CHSW, said: “We are so grateful for the support from Wollens as our gold partner for the next three years for Run Barnstaple. Having such a well-known and respected business showing their support, not only for the charity but for one of our biggest fundraising events, is fantastic.
“This means that more of the money raised by everyone taking part in the event can go straight towards providing care and support to the families we look after rather than being taken up on event costs. This sponsorship really does make a huge difference.”
This year the Run Barnstaple Final Mile children’s race is being sponsored by Bloor Homes.
Stephanie Ubl, sales manager for the house builders’ Exeter region, said: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring this year’s Run Barnstaple Final Mile!
“The work Children’s Hospice South West do is truly amazing; the team provide vital support not only to the children in their care but their family members too. We look forward to Run Barnstaple on September 28 and offer our continued support to Little Bridge House and the entire team at Children’s Hospice South West as they continue to deliver such meaningful care to our community.”
Last year, in the men’s marathon category Ronnie Richmond from Bideford AAC claimed first place with a finishing time of two hours, 28 minutes and 50 seconds, and in the women’s marathon category first to cross the finish line was Samantha Baker from the South Molton Strugglers running group with a time of three hours, five minutes and 57 seconds.
Kate added: “We are looking forward to cheering on all of our amazing runners across the finish line next month and hope that friends and family will come along to support the event and enjoy the event village activities and refreshments.”
