North Devon Ramblers invite you to join them for short summer walks

North Devon Ramblers meet at the gates of Victoria Park in Bideford

Last week saw the first of our programme of eight short summer evening walks and we would love to have you join us for the next.

We know that it can be difficult to decide where to go for a walk, or you end up following the same route again and again. Maybe you don’t want to walk by yourself?

Time Out Tuesdays are designed to be walks of four miles maximum at a gentle pace for those who are starting out walking, getting back into it or simply wanting to come and socialise in the evening.

If you’d prefer a shorter walk then the majority will have drop-out points where you can do a shorter loop or catch a bus home. All the walks start from either the main gates of Victoria Park in Bideford or the Albert Clock in Barnstaple. No equipment is needed, simply wear sensible walking shoes and bring a bottle of water. Dogs on leads can come too!

Our first walk on  June 3 welcomed 19 walkers and several dogs, with many new to our group. After a compulsory Hockings for the leader, we set off through Victoria Park enjoying the flowers in full bloom.

We wound through some woods and then emerged on the South West Coast Path towards Appledore. On reaching a lovely beach with a fallen tree and lovely views over the estuary, we turned left inland and continued up the hill to Northam.

Crossing through Burrough Farm and along the river side, we were back at our start point in good time for a refreshing drink at the Appledore Inn.

Next week we will be enjoying a stroll around Pilton and it would be great to see you there.

No need to book but if you would like more information then you can contact Gemma on 07305728883, find North Devon Ramblers on Facebook or visit our website online at: northdevonramblers.org.uk
