Devon County Council has confirmed that a fire involving a heavy goods vehicle on Tuesday, April 30, has caused damage to the road surface.
The incident prompted an immediate response, with the affected section of the road coned off to protect the damaged area.
Two-way traffic flow has been maintained.
Contractor Griffiths is scheduled to carry out repair works next week. These will include resurfacing the damaged area, restoring drainage and verge infrastructure, and reinstating road markings.
A spokesperson for the council said the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, and the depth of the burn will determine how extensive the repairs need to be.
