Annabel Tennant and Annabelle Cawsey from Bideford celebrate their outstanding achievements at the BBOdance event held at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham
Two talented dance students from Bideford have gained national recognition at the prestigious BBOdance event, held at the renowned Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham over the Easter break.
Annabel Tennant, aged 11, participated in the Dance Scholarship Weekend and was awarded a fully funded scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year.
This achievement follows her successful audition for the BBO Mid Scholars Programme, where she receives classical ballet training from industry professionals.
Annabelle Cawsey, aged 8, was awarded the Peggy Wilson Cup for the Most Promising Student, a highly regarded accolade recognising her potential and outstanding performance. She was selected for this honour by the teaching faculty, including BBO President Brenda Last OBE and Artistic Director Anita Young MBE.
The event brought together over 100 students from across the country, aged 8 to 18, for intensive classes in a variety of dance genres, culminating in a showcase performance.
The event took place at Elmhurst Ballet School, home to the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
“We are immensely proud of both girls and their outstanding achievements, which are a testament to their commitment and passion for dance, as well as the high standard of training they receive at Sarah Anne Westcott Dance Studios,” said Miss Anne, Principal of Sarah Anne Westcott Dance Studios in Bideford.
