Currys Barnstaple team hard at work during the River Taw clean-up
The team at Currys Barnstaple have been out in the local community, working to give back and make a positive impact.
On Sunday, 16 March, five staff members took part in a clean-up event along the River Taw, collecting litter to improve the local environment.
The team’s goal was to tackle areas in the town that needed attention, with the River Taw chosen for its relatively neglected state compared to places like Rock Park and the Tarka Trail, which have regular litter pickers.
During their clean-up, the team found and collected a variety of items, including an old goal post, a sign, and even a PC World trolley, as well as general rubbish like bottles.
This clean-up is part of an ongoing initiative by Currys Barnstaple to support their local community.
The store has previously raised funds for the Digital Poverty Alliance through a sponsored bike ride, raffle, and bake sale, and has also supported Breast Cancer awareness.
Alexandra Bodimeade, a staff member at Currys Barnstaple, said: “We want to show our customers that we care about more than just providing great tech – we’re here to help the community in any way we can.”
The team’s efforts were met with positive reactions from passers-by, many of whom smiled and showed their appreciation as they saw the staff out with litter pickers.
Currys Barnstaple plans to continue their community-focused initiatives and looks forward to organising more events that benefit the town.
