A North Devon homeowner has won 500 litres of heating oil in a surprise quarterly prize draw run by Moorland Fuels’ Cosy Heating Club.

Peter Clark, a retired resident from Sheepwash, said he had no idea he had been entered into the draw until he received the unexpected news.

“I had no idea I was even entered into the Cosy Heating Club draw, so when I got the call, it was a wonderful surprise!” he said.

“We go through a lot of heating oil, especially in the colder months, as my wife feels the chill in the evenings. Even now, with spring here, we still have the heating on because of the cold winds and chilly nights.”

Peter, who has been a customer of Moorland Fuels since moving to Sheepwash four years ago, said the prize would help towards their heating costs.

“We've been customers of Moorland Fuels for four years, ever since we moved to our home in Sheepwash. We've always paid by Direct Debit, and it’s great to know that being part of the Cosy Heating Club comes with benefits like this. The 500 litres of free heating oil will really help, and we’ll be putting the money we've saved towards next winter.”

Moorland Fuels, which became employee-owned in 2022, supplies customers across Devon, Cornwall, and the South West.

The company is based in Okehampton.

The Cosy Heating Club, a free membership programme, offers benefits such as priority five-day delivery, discounted oil tanks, and an annual free upgrade to premium heating oil.

For every fuel delivery made by Moorland Fuels until the end of June, the company will donate 25p to Age UK Devon.
