Five fire crews were called to a large heathland blaze on the outskirts of Exmoor near Molland on Sunday afternoon.

Driven by strong winds, the fire was roaring on two fire fronts of around 200 metres long when the crews from South Molton, Bampton and Barnstaple arrived at around midday, along with a water bowser from Barnstaple.

Two more fire appliances were requested when fire fighters saw the scope of the situation.

The fire was put out using hoses, beaters and Scotty spray backpacks designed for bush firefighting.

The cause of the fire has not been released at this time.
